Neighborhood Network News

Update to the City Council

We’ll report at the Tuesday, January 19 meeting of the Burlingame City Council on the progress that our Neighborhood Network groups have been making. To date, more than 20 presentations about the program have been made to groups of neighbors. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 501 Primrose Road.

To request a presentation about the Neighborhood Network in your neighborhood, send an email to info@theneighborhoodnetwork.org.

Starting a Neighborhood Network

We’re getting lots of requests for help in forming Neighborhood Networks. Volunteers are available to help you get started and, thanks to a grant, we can offer you lots of colorful fliers with helpful information that you can distribute to your neighbors.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to forming a Neighborhood Network.

Training Opportunities

Don’t miss out on these great classes offered by the City of Burlingame!

Get Ready - Every citizen in Burlingame is urged to take the two-hour "Get Ready" course offered by Central County Fire, to gain a basic understanding of how to prepare yourself, your family, your home and your workplace for a major disaster.  Admission is free. To register for the next class, call the Central County Fire Department at (650) 558-7600.

CERT Training - The Central County Fire Department also offers a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) course. The next series will begin Tuesday, April 6. This comprehensive training will enable you to serve your community in the aftermath of a disaster, when emergency services are not immediately available. The skills you learn will also prove invaluable in assisting your friends and family during everyday situations. This 20-hour course is free.
